Smart TV IPTV setup: the Samsung and LG guide
If you own a Samsung or LG smart TV, the good news is you need no external box and no Firestick — IPTV runs directly on the TV. The bad news is that most guides recommend the wrong app: IPTV Smarters Pro is not reliably available on Samsung Tizen. This guide covers what actually works, step by step.
Which app works on Samsung and LG?
Samsung TVs run Tizen, LG TVs run webOS. Neither is Android, which is why most Android TV guides simply do not apply here.
| App | Samsung (Tizen) | LG (webOS) | Note |
|---|---|---|---|
| Smart IPTV (SIPTV) | Yes | Yes | Most reliable. MAC-based activation, one-off fee |
| IBO Player | Yes | Yes | Good alternative, similar activation |
| SmartOne IPTV | Yes | Yes | If neither of the above is in your store |
| IPTV Smarters Pro | Unreliable | Varies | Depends on model and country — do not plan around it |
| TiviMate | No | No | Android TV and boxes only |
This guide walks through Smart IPTV, because it works on the widest range of sets. If it is missing from your store, we cover what to do below.
Before you start: three things to check
- Your TV is a 2016 model or newer. The Tizen and webOS stores support Smart IPTV from that year onwards.
- Your TV is connected to the internet. Wired if possible — 25 Mbps of stable bandwidth is the recommended minimum for 4K.
- You have your M3U playlist. We send it on activation. If you don't have it, request it on the contact page.
Setting up Smart IPTV on a Samsung TV
- Open the Samsung Apps store (Smart Hub) with the Home button on your remote.
- Search for Smart IPTV. Install it, then launch it.
- On first launch a black screen shows your TV's MAC address (e.g.
00:1A:2B:3C:4D:5E). Write it down exactly. - On a phone or computer, open siptv.eu and find the playlist upload form.
- Enter the MAC address, paste your M3U link, then click the upload button.
- Restart the app on the TV. Channels load within a few seconds.
The MAC address is case sensitive and the colons must be included. The most common typo is confusing 0 (zero) with the letter O, or 1 (one) with a lowercase L — check that first if the playlist won't load.
Setting up Smart IPTV on an LG TV
The process is practically identical, only the store name differs:
- Open the LG Content Store from your remote.
- Search for the Smart IPTV app and install it.
- Launch it — the MAC address appears. Write it down.
- On siptv.eu, upload the MAC address and your M3U link.
- Restart the app on the TV.
In some countries the app is missing from the LG Content Store. If that is your case, change the region in your TV settings, or use one of the alternatives below.
What if the app isn't in your store?
Three fixes, in this order:
- Try IBO Player. Same activation logic, and often available where SIPTV is not.
- Try SmartOne IPTV. The third proven option for Tizen and webOS.
- Change the region in your TV settings. App availability differs by country; the set needs a restart after the change.
The four most common mistakes
- A mistyped MAC address. By far the most common cause. Zero or letter O? One or lowercase L? Check character by character.
- The 7-day trial expired. The app then refuses to load a playlist. The fee goes to the Smart IPTV developer, one-off and per device.
- A pre-2016 TV. Nothing to fix in the app — an Android box or Firestick is the answer.
- Buffering after setup. Almost always Wi-Fi. The full checklist is in our troubleshooting guide.
Got a pre-2016 TV? Here's the fix
Don't replace the TV over this. A cheap Android TV box or an Amazon Firestick over HDMI turns any old set into a capable one — and gives you far better players in return.
On that kind of device, TiviMate is the best choice: faster zapping and a far better programme guide than any Smart TV app. We break down the difference in the player comparison.
Living abroad? One thing to note
Smart TV setup works the same way abroad — IPTV is not tied to a Hungarian IP address, so no VPN is needed. The only difference is that app store catalogues vary by country, so you may need one of the alternatives above.
We wrote a separate guide on geoblocking, the EU portability regulation and the country-by-country differences: watching Hungarian TV abroad.
Frequently asked questions about Smart TV setup
Is the Smart IPTV app free?
The app is free to download and free to try for 7 days. After that the developer charges a one-off activation fee of a few euros per device. Note: that fee goes to the Smart IPTV developer and is not part of your IPTV subscription.
Why can't I find IPTV Smarters Pro in the Samsung store?
Because it is not reliably available on Samsung Tizen — depending on model and country it may or may not appear. On Samsung and LG TVs, Smart IPTV, IBO Player or SmartOne are the proven choices. Our IPTV Smarters Pro guide applies to Android devices and phones.
What happens if I factory reset my TV?
The MAC address does not change on a factory reset, so your activation survives. You only need to reinstall the app — no need to re-upload the playlist. The MAC address changes only if you replace the TV itself; in that case message us on the contact page.
Does Smart IPTV work on Samsung and LG TVs older than 2016?
Usually not: the Tizen and webOS app stores support it on 2016 and newer models. For older sets, the cheapest fix is an Android TV box or a Firestick, which can run TiviMate.
How many TVs can I use one activation on?
Smart IPTV activation is tied to the MAC address, so every additional TV needs its own activation. That is separate from how many simultaneous connections your IPTV subscription allows — that is set by your plan.
Do I need Xtream Codes or an M3U playlist for a Smart TV?
Smart IPTV uses an M3U playlist, not an Xtream Codes login — one of the main differences between Smart TV and Android setup. We send both formats on activation, so there is nothing to convert.
